How does setting the KPI calculation period work?

The calculation took place on October 29:

No. 1. Counting period in settings 1-3: takes processes 1 to 3 (sum 11.5)

No. 2. Counting period in settings 1-20: takes processes from 1 to 20 (sum 90.4)

No. 3. Counting period in settings 3-20: takes processes from 20 to 29 (sum 18)

In the KPI settings it is written that if a specific period is specified, then the calculation occurs both in this period and in the remaining days. But through experiments I discovered that if a period is specified from the 1st day, then it calculates KPI only in this specified period (calculations 1 and 2 above), and if the period is not specified from the 1st day, then the calculation occurs only for the remaining days until the end of the month (calculation No. 3).
